Bio
 

Sophie Burrows is an accomplished freelance musician and music educator with extensive performance experience across major UK and international venues. She has worked with major UK and international artists, including Paolo Nutini, Rashmeet Kaur, Derrick McKenzie (Jamiroquai) and Afriquoi. She also works regularly on the comedy circuit as a musician for musical comedians Sheeps, which has seen her sharing the stage with comics such as Jamie Demetriou, Mae Martin, Rose Matafeo, David O' Doherty, Lolly Adefope, Jazz Emu, Johnny White Really-Really, Paul Williams, Charlotte Ritchie, Ania Magliano and John Tothill. She has also performed for many actors and musicians at private events, including Emma Willis's 50th birthday with guests such as Matt Willis, Olly Murs, and Rylan Clark in attendance. She also performed for actor Nikesh Patel's 40th birthday, as well as performing for Olivia Colman, Prue Leith, Nish Kumar, Gok Wan and Sacha Dhawan at various events. 

 

Sophie is tenor saxophonist of groundbreaking all-girl brass band She's Got Brass, who currently are the Arsenal Women's official brass band, and the only all-girl brass band in London. She's Got Brass can be seen performing regularly around London, at Arsenal Women's home games, as well as at most major UK festivals.

Sophie is tenor saxophonist and flautist in Cardboard Wolf, a London-based jazz fusion group sporting a mix of electronica-infused bangers, soulful jazz jams and outrageous horn lines.Broadly jazz fusion in style, Cardboard Wolf blends international influences such as Latin-American, Balkan, and West African rhythms, with flavours of EDM, house, funk and soul.

 

Trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Sophie specialises in saxophone, flute, clarinet, and vocals. She has performed at many major UK music festivals, including Glastonbury, Boomtown, Victorious, Green Man, Wilderness and Great Escape, as well as venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, Carnegie Hall and Soho Theatre Walthamstow. As a music educator, she has led and assisted workshops for the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and Junior Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

 

Sophie also takes on regular functions playing solo sets, alongside DJs, and playing with various bands, including 29 Fingers, Schmooze Events, Moonlight Dynamite, and Blue Lion Band.

Sophie has over a decade of professional performing and recording experience in a variety of genres, including pop, jazz, jazz fusion, Berber music, Kurdish music, hip hop, classical, funk, afrobeat, musical theatre and many more musical styles.
